The Pelican Rapids bats were pretty much silent on Friday in Hawley as the Nuggets pitcher, Trayton Cossette, had a no hitter going into the final inning. Weston Funk got the only hit for the Vikings, leading off the 7th but was stranded there as the Nuggets posted a 7-0 shutout win.
Hawley scored one in the first, one in the 4th, 3 in the 5th and 2 more in the 6th. Only 3 Vikings reached base, with just one advancing as far as second. Funk started on the mound for Pelican and was relieved by Brock Sjolie in the 4th. Funk took the loss, striking out 2 and walking 3, as 6 Viking errors were a major factor in the game. Only one of the Hawley runs was earned. Zack Partlow did the catching.
