The Ottertail Central Bulldog pushed across a pair of runs in the top of the tenth inning, breaking a 5-5 tie and going on to record a 7-5 win over Sebeka on Thursday.

Drake Larsen singled home Nik Gardin with the go ahead run and Nathan Stavaas singled in Braden Guy with the insurance run.

Stavaas (4IP, 5H, 1R, 7K, 1BB) was the winning pitcher.  Dylan Trana threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen in the sixth inning and was perfect. Cole Brandner was the starting pitcher for the Bulldogs as he pitched 5 innings, allowing 4 runs on 5 hits, walking four batters and fanning seven.

Coach Ryan Hendrickson was impressed with his pitchers, “I couldn’t be more proud of our team tonight and it all starts with the guys on the mound.  Cole fought through some early adversity but his last two innings really showed his fighting character. Then, Trana came in for the sixth inning with a tie game and was perfect.  Being it was his first pitching appearance of the year, I put the ball in Stavaas’ hands to finish and he had to go four innings. Stav really hasn’t been in that position before but he really showed us he can lead us.  I’ve never seen him pitch like that before. He had a great mix of pitches, all with control, he was fun to watch.”

The Bulldogs had 13 hits.  Brandner, Larsen, Guy and Stavaas each had multiple hits for OTC with Larsen and Brandner each collecting three hits.

“In the last two games we have scored 16 runs on 26 hits,” said Hendrickson. “We started slow, but the boys have put the work in and it’s paying off.”

The Bulldogs will play a double header in Parkers Prairie on Friday starting at 4:00pm.
