The Ottertail Central baseball team failed to score a run in their 5-0 loss to Frazee on Thursday.  The Bulldogs were held without a hit until Daxton Olson and Andy Weniger smashed singles in the seventh inning.  Winning pitcher Lukas Volstad struck out five and didn’t walk a batter.

Frazee took the lead on a Jack Pikula groundout in the second inning, scoring Howie Solem who led off the inning with a double to the right field fence.

Bulldog Coach Ryan Hendrickson said, “Frazee came out hot offensively tonight.  They had four hits early in the game and then scored four runs in the fourth inning, but no matter what we give up, we still need to battle and put our own runs across the plate and we just weren’t able to get on base enough.”

Olson took the loss, lasting six inning, allowing seven hits and five runs while striking out four and walking one.

“I’m really happy with how Daxton competed tonight, he threw really well,” said Coach Hendrickson.  “His goal for tonight was to get ahead of batters, throw a lot of strikes and keep his pitch count low.  He met those goals and could have finished with a complete game if he had to.”

Kayne Cameron moved to the bump in the seventh inning and gave up one hit while recording three strikeouts.  “Kayne is going to be a very important part of our pitching staff.  He is showing great control of his mixture of pitches,” said Hendrickson.

Frazee tallied eight hits on the day with Solem, Mason Newling and Cody Pausch each collecting multiple hits for the Hornets.
