The “gang is all back” or at least on the way.  West Central Area had their first golf meet of the season on Tuesday, April 23 in Ortonville.

“It was a picture perfect day – 65 degrees, gentle breeze and lots of sunshine.  Just what we all needed after the long winter,” said Knights Head Coach Kari Kreft.  “We are expecting great things with the core of last year’s varsity team back.  Jessica St. Martin a sophomore and four seniors; Lexi Poyzer, Libby Poyzer, Kate Wrolson and Emily Courrier are all back.  The gang is back and ready to have some fun and accomplish the personal and team goals they have set.”

Jessica St. Martin led the lady Knights with a 99, while Lexi Poyzer came in with a 115 and Courrier shot a 153.

Three of the five golfers made their golfing debut on Tuesday with a couple of them having scheduling conflicts.  “The consensus was they were thrilled to be playing in ideal conditions, a little rusty with little to no practice thus far and settled into solid games after they got the kinks out in the first few holes,” reported Kreft.  “Emily felt good about her drives. Lexi had a really strong back nine with some great chipping and putting. Jessica had a good round with the front nine being her strongest. We look forward to having all five golfers on Thursday at Balmoral and hopefully filling the sixth golfing position from our JV pool later this season.”

Lac qui Parle Valley won the team title with a score of 351.  Morris was second with a 389.
