The Ashby softball team dropped a pair of games to the Hancock Owls on Tuesday, losing the first game 5-2 and dropping the nightcap 13-2.

The Arrows watched the first game slip away early and couldn't recover.  Hancock opened up scoring in the first inning, scoring one run on a double by Carlee Hanson.

Josey Ness took the loss for Arrows. She surrendered five runs on five hits over four innings, striking out five and walking one.

Anissa Heinrich led the Arrows with two hits in three at bats.

In game two the Arrows had trouble keeping up with Hancock as the Owls took control with a 12-run third inning.

Josey Ness was in the circle for Arrows. She surrendered 11 runs on six hits over two and a third innings, striking out one.  Madison Bestul threw two and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen, surrendering 2 runs on 1 hit, striking out 3. Ness went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Arrows.

“Simply put, we could not get our bats on the ball either game, but especially the 2nd game,” said Ashby Head Coach Autumn Aeling. “We struck out looking a lot and did not have our normal confidence at the plate. That compiled with our errors let Hancock take charge of the game. “
