Alexandria won the team title with a score of 354, led by an 85 from Hannah Boraas and an 86 from Aisling O’Connor.

Detroit Lakes finished second with a 358.  Shelby Busker of the Lakers was the medalist with a 76 and teammate Anna Cihak was runner-up with an 81.

Elk River took third with a team total of 359.  They were followed by Bemidji (374), Moorhead (410), Pequot Lakes (411), Pine River-Backus (433), Hermantown (440), Fergus Falls (452), Heritage Christian (452) and Park Rapids Area (476).  Staples-Motley turned in an incomplete score.

“This was a tough start for the girls,” reported Fergus Falls Head Coach Ben Jurgens.  “It was their first time on a golf course since last year and to start at the Legacy can be challenging.  The Legacy is a bit of a target course with a lot of strategically placed sand traps, woods and water. We along with many other teams found these places too often.”

Ellia Soydara led the Otters with a 109.  Amy Johnson and Greta Christenson each shot scores of 114 and Mady Eklund came in with a 115.  Sydney Thacker (124) and Kenzy Braeger (134) rounded out the team scoring.

“On a positive, we are finally playing golf outside and that makes all the girls happy,” added Jurgens.  “Plus, Kenzy Braeger got to play in her first varsity golf meet, which is always fun to see. We have a starting point and we get to play again on Wednesday at Alexandria.  Our goal will be simple, to post a better team total than we did today.”
