In game one, RCTC built a 4-0 lead after five innings before the Lady Spartans were able to push a run across. In the bottom of the sixth sophomore Macky Warne singled with one out and scored two batters later on a two out RBI single by Alexa Mortenson. The Lady Spartans held defensively and entered the bottom of the seventh trailing 4-1. Hannah Ekse roped a double down the left field line to start the inning. Morgan Smith walked to put runners on first and second. With one out, Rylee Lindquist looped a fly ball to the outfield that was dropped scoring two runs to make the score 4-3. Lindquist then scored on a two out double by Warne to tie the score. With two outs in the bottom of the seventh and the score tied at 4-4, freshman Allison Stafke from New York Mills hit a hard single up the middle. Warne raced around third base and made a great slide to avoid the tag at the plate to score the winning run.

Warne pitched all 7 innings giving up just two earned runs to pick up the win. She also had two hits and scored two runs. Alexa Mortenson had two hits and an RBI and Stafki drove in the winning run with her one hit of the game.

The Lady Spartans used a very balanced lineup and took advantage of some Riverland College mistakes to win 16-0 in game two. Stafki led the way with four hits and two runs batted in, Warne had a couple hits and RBI’s and Lindquist added two hits and three runs batted in. Paige Schultz picked up her first two RBI of her college career also.

Alexa Mortenson pitched the complete game shutout, her second shutout of the young season, striking out six.

The Lady Spartans will play two more games Saturday.
