Fergus Falls made a strong showing at the Moorhead Athletic Association Indoor Track and Field Meet on Friday at Concordia College in Moorhead.  The Otter took second place with a team score of 146.5.  Moorhead won the meet with 218.5 and Detroit Lakes (105) was third.

Ashlyn Fronning started her season off with a huge win in the 55 meter dash (7.77).  She played a key role in the 4x200 where the Otters finished second (1:57.83), and rounded out her events with a second place (15’1.5”) in the Long Jump.  “She showed her strength and speed from the start of the meet,” said Fergus Falls Head Coach Niki Welde.

Other members of the 4 x 200 relay were Audrey Mudford, Jadyn McKeever and Hallie Sheridan.

Ainsley Hansen stood out in the High Jump with a win and a jump of 5-2,” noted Welde.  “That is a huge first meet accomplishment.  The surface they were jumping off of was not a real track surface.  This made it so our jumpers could not wear their spikes for the event.  Our results in this event were fantastic considering the conditions.  Jadyn McKeever (9’ 0”) vaulted to a first place finish.  Leading our vaulters.  All 4 vaulters had excellent results considering that it was the first time they had been able to get off the ground due to our pits being snowed in.”

Sheridan was second (9’ 0”), MaKayla Huus fourth (8’ 0”) and Sophie Rausch sixth (7’ 0”).

Hannah Prody placed first in the triple jump following an excellent showing in the high jump (4’ 10”) taking sixth place, earlier in the meet.  Huus was second (27’ 8.5”) and Ingrid Salveson third (26’ 1”).

Mudford was fourth (4’ 10”), Skogen seventh (4’ 6”) and Omelia Henderson ninth (4’ 2”) in the high jump.

Aspen Rohde ran a time of 5:59.12 in the 1600 meter run, placing second, and Emily Nuss was third (6:04.19).  Berit Skogen (6:19.26) was sixth.  Nuss was also sixth (14’ 6”) and Mudford eighth (14’ 3”) in the long jump.

In the shot put, Rachel Wulfkuhle was runner-up (33’ 4”) and Svea Smestad was fifth (31’ 6”).

The 4 x 400 relay team of Stenstrom, McKeever, Mudford and Miranda Hoffman finished third (4:42.04).

Other placers for the Otters were Miranda Hoffman, seventh in the 55M (8.09), Rebecca Schindler, eighth in the 400 (1:17.78), Makenna Stenstrom (3:07.06) and Emma Koeckeritz (3:07.23), seventh and eighth, respectively, in the 800 meter run.

“We look forward to competing at Concordia again next Friday,” added Coach Welde.  “We feel very fortunate to be able to compete in this frustrating weather.”
