The Wheaton/Herman-Norcross boys basketball team closed out their regular season with an 89-75 loss at Ortonville on Friday night. Ortonville shot 43% from the field and the Warriors shot 41%, making 43% (15-35) of their three-pointers. The difference came at the free throw line where Ortonville made 25-of-36 (69.4%) and Wheaton/Herman-Norcross was 10-for-20 (50%).
Matt Thielen was 10-for-23 from beyond the arc and finished with 38 points. Nick Lupkes scored 14, hitting 4-of-7 three’s. He also led the Warriors with 7 rebounds. Dylan Bainbridge led the team withi 6 assists.
Tyson Powell made 11-of-14 free throws, including his last eight attempts, finishing with 16 points. DaVonte Edwards led the Trojans with 18 points. Mitchell Meyer added 16 points, Zach Kuechenmeister had 15 on five 3’s and Peter Treinen contributed 13. The Trojans held a 51-33 edge on the boards.
