The Wadena-Deer Creek girls’ basketball team held their awards banquet earlier this month.  Award winners were Leah Osberg (Jenna Dykhoff Best Teammate Award), Payton Gravelle (“Hard Hat” Award) and Jada Dykhoff (Most Improved).  All-Conference honors were bestowed on Montana Carsten, Addyson Gravelle and Payton Gravelle, while Kennedy Ness and Jada Dykhoff were honorable mention selections.  Osberg, Carsten, Jenna Dykhoff and Addyson Gravelle were Academic All-State.

Underwood improved their season record to 23-5 with a 60-53 playoff win over New York Mills on Saturday at the Hive in Perham.  The Rockets made 15-of-16 free throws in the game.  “We always have tough games with Mills and this was no exception,” said Underwood head coach Brian Hovland. “We would get a little lead and they would tie or take the lead. We eventually, late in the second half, were able to grow our lead to double digits and with some timely free throws secure the win.”
