Rothsay Boys Basketball Awards

By Craig Olson 03/26/2025, 11:00am CDT

The Rothsay boys’ basketball team held their end of season awards banquet on Monday with players voting on two awards.  Team MVP honors went to senior Preston Curtis, and the Mr. Defense award was presented to freshman Mason Heidecker.

“Our boys ended the year 14-13,” reported head coach Jason Haas. “We struggled to win some tight ball games to start the year, but were playing really well in late January and February. We won 9 of our last 12 games of the regular season. It was great to see our guys put in all the hard work and have it pay off with a couple win streaks at the end of the season.  As a first year head coach, I cannot thank our seniors enough for the way they bought into our new system. Their leadership this year was a huge part of our success. It's also been great to see the excitement in our returning players to get back to work.”

The Underwood boys’ basketball team wound up 14-14 with a third place finish in the Little Eight Conference this season.  On Sunday night, the Rockets got together for their awards banquet at Stalker Lake Golf Course.  “We went through some struggles with injuries this year, cut we had some players really step up and fill the void,” noted head coach Kellen Shebeck.  “We took some big steps forward as a program this year, and I could not be prouder of a group of guys!”
