Section 6A runner Audrey Brownell of the Staples-Motley Cardinals won the Class A Girls’ Cross Country race on Saturday at the Les Bolstad Golf Course on the campus of the University of Minnesota.  United North Central and Hawley represented Section 8A well in the team competition, finishing fourth and fifth, respectively, out of 16 teams in the field.

Julia Schmidt became the first cross country runner from Wheaton to compete in the state meet in 37 years, representing the Wheaton/Herman-Norcross and Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley communities as a member of the Border West Buccaneers.  She finished 30th in the competition with a time of 19:56.7.
