Alexandria junior Hailie Kent placed second in the triple jump (37-06.00) and Fergus Falls had two individuals earn medals at the Class AA Girls State Track and Field Meet on Saturday at St. Michael-Albertville.  Senior Svea Smestad placed fifth in the shot put (38-06.25) and junior Ainsley Hansen was fourth in the high jump (5-04.00).

 

Alexandria junior William Heydt claimed the Class AA Boys’ State Championship in the triple jump (45-04.50) and Fergus Falls sophomore Alexander Jensen was the third place finisher in the shot put (53-10.25) on Saturday at St. Michael-Albertville.

Alexandria claimed the Section 8AA Girls’ Track and Field Championship on Saturday in Fergus Falls, recording 137 points.  Willmar took second with 89 and Brainerd was third with 77.  The Cardinals, who saw Sophia Vinje qualify for state in the discus and Aleah Miller in the 3200 meter run on Thursday, qualified five more individuals on Saturday, including Aleah Miller and Jaelyn Miller in the 1600 meter run, Elena Fuglestad in the 400 meter dash, Alexis Cole in the 300 meter hurdles and Hailie Kent in the triple jump.

Fergus Falls had Svea Smestad qualify as the shot put champion, joining Ainsley Hansen who qualified for the state high jump on Thursday.
