The Fergus Falls Hurricanes have advanced to the State Class C Amateur Baseball Tournament as the runners-up in Region 16.  After winning their state qualifying game 15-6 over the Urbank Bombers, the Canes dropped a 20-12 slugfest to the Alexandria Black Sox in the state seeding game.  Fergus Falls will play the Hanska Lakers on Sunday, August 22 at 1:30pm in Waconia in the first round of the tournament, while Alexandria plays the winner of the game between Union Hill and Kimball at 4:30pm on August 28 in a second round game, also in Waconia.

The Alexandria Black Sox have qualified for the State Amateur Baseball Tournament, handing the Fergus Falls Hurricanes their first loss in the Region 16C Tourney at Urbank on Sunday.  The Black Sox posted a 10-3 win over the Canes to advance.  Fergus Falls will now move into a second state qualifier, facing the winner of the Urbank vs Kensington game on Saturday, August 14 at 1:00pm in Urbank.  Urbank and Kensington play an elimination game at 8:00pm Friday, also in Urbank.

 

Region 16C Amateur Baseball Tournament Begins This Weekend

The Region 16C Amateur Baseball Tournament starts on Saturday July 31 and will continue the next 2 weekends ending with a Champion being crowned on Saturday August 14. Tournament is hosted by Urbank and Carlos. The Fergus Falls Hurricanes received a 1st Round Bye and will start with a game against the winner of Long Prairie/Osakis on Sunday, August 1 at 1:00pm in Carlos.
