The theme for this year's playoffs seemed to be matchups written by the director of the 1986 film Hoosiers.  In the Section Quarterfinals, the Vikings, a team with a high school enrollment of 209 students, were pushed to the brink in an overtime victory over the 8th largest team in Class A, the Alexandria Cardinals (enrollment 1157).  In the Semi-finals this past Wednesday, the team was able to edge the 4th largest team in the state, the Bemidji Lumberjacks (enrollment 1216).  The win Wednesday landed the Vikings in the Final against St. Cloud Tech.  Tech, the defending Section 8A champion, is the 5th largest team in Minnesota (enrollment 1205) and is a team that just two years ago was large enough that it was competing in the State quarterfinals of the Class AA tournament.
