Otter Boys Avenge Earlier Loss with Win at Rocori

The Fergus Falls boys basketball team controlled the second half of their road game against Rocori on Tuesday night in Cold Spring, outscoring the Spartans 37-19 over the final 18 minutes after being tied at halftime, 27-27.  The result was a 64-46 Otter win, avenging a 54-50 loss on January 18 in Fergus Falls.

Eight of Rocori’s nine first half field goals were 3-pointers.  The lead changed hands 8 times in the first half. The Otters started building their lead when Rocori turned the ball over four times in the first two minutes of the half.  With the Otters leading 47-41 in the second half they went on an 8-0 run to increase their lead to 55-41 with four minutes to play in the game.

 

Matthew Johnson scored 19 points and pulled down 5 rebounds to lead the Otters.  Nic Pearson finished with 15 points.  Cody Norgren had 10 points and 6 rebounds and Dominic Aguilar scored 8 points while dishing out 3 assists.

 

Fergus Falls held a 30-23 edge on the boards and forced 17 Rocori turnovers on the night.

 

The Spartans were led by Brett Sowada with 15 points on five 3’s.  Jayden Philippi scored 9 points on 3 3’s and Andrew Anderson had 5 points and a team high 9 rebounds.

 

Fergus Falls (13-11) will host St. Cloud Tech in their next game on Thursday night and will close out their regular season schedule at home against Sauk Rapids-Rice on Friday night.
