The season came to an end for the Hillcrest Comets on Monday night at New York Mills as the Eagles defeated the Comets 51-37.

“We dug ourselves into a hole early in the second half, but our girls made some great defensive plays that allowed us to get back into the game,” reported Hillcrest Head Coach Hannah Clark.

Tiffany Thompson led New York Mills with 22 points and Madalyn Erp had 14.

“I am so proud of the way these girls fought tonight,” said Coach Clark.  “It was tough for our season to come to an end, but I thought the girls played with a ton of heart and left it all on the floor.”

Olivia Foss (15 points, 5 steals, 7 rebounds) and Mackenzie Foss (14 points, 4 steals, 2 rebounds) led Hillcrest.  Anna Rasmussen added 4 points and Molly McGuire had 2 points and 4 boards.

“Olivia played one of her best games of the season and led our teams on both ends of the floor,” noted Clark.  “Olivia, Augusta Ewan and Elise Wutka are the three seniors on the team.  These girls have been great leaders and role models for our team and we are sure going to miss them next year.”

New York Mills will not face second-seeded Ada-Borup on Thursday night at 7:00pm in Ada.
