The Ashby girls basketball team took a 32-23 at halftime against the Brandon-Evansville Chargers on Saturday, however, B-E came back strong in the second half and recorded a 54-50 win in Brandon.

“We started slow and didn’t seem to have a lot of energy much of the first half,” said Chargers Head Coach Sam Lange. “Credit Ashby who shot the lights out and took 9 point lead into the half. We never panicked and kept fighting the whole game and hit some big free throws to finish the game.”

Kristen Kokett led B-E with 13 points, including a trio of 3’s.  Haddey Zastrow also made three 3’s and finished with 11 points.  Brittany Korkowski joined them in double figures with 10 points and Mikenna Pattrin had 9.

Courtney Koefod led Ashby with 13 points, while Josey Ness and Amelia Barry contributed 11 points each.

The win halted a four game losing streak for Brandon-Evansville and puts their final regular season record at 15-9.  They will open Section 6A play Thursday night at Graceville against C-G-B. The Chargers are the number five seed in the section.

Ashby is seeded ninth and will travel to Ortonville on Monday night.  The Arrows ended the regular season with a record of 6-18.
