Lady Knights Win in Ortonville

The West Central Area Lady Knights traveled to Ortonville to take on the Trojans in their regular season finale Friday night.  The Knights came out of the gates ready to go and build a lead quickly. At halftime the score was 55 to 30 in favor of the Knights.  The Trojans cut the lead several times but the Knights would respond and grow the margin back to 25 points. The final score was 95-62 in favor of the Lady Knights.

“Tonight the girls played phenomenal on offense throughout the whole game,” said Head Coach Eric Schoenbauer. “We need to continue to clean up a few things defensively to help us finish strong going into the playoffs.”  

 

The Lady Knights were led by Lexi Bright with 28 points, 5 assists, 4 steals and 3 rebounds.  Ella Van Kempen put in 21 points, grabbed 9 rebounds, blocked 4 shots, assists 4 buckets and stole a pass.  Hailey Bennett scored 19 points, to go along with 9 rebounds, 3 steals and an assist.  Brynn Fernholz chipped in 9 points, assisted on 3 baskets and grabbed 3 rebounds. Morgan Woodle scored 7 points, with 6 rebounds and a steal.  Elizabeth Rustan had 5 points, 10 rebounds, 4 steals and 3 assists.  Kennedy Ulrich, Kaitlyn Sanstead, Kaitlyn Hansen each put in 2 points.  Ulrich added 6 rebounds, 2 steals and a block.  Sanstead grabbed a rebound and a steal. Hansen added 2 steals and a rebound.  Kaylyn Ulrich had a rebound and played outstanding defense tonight.  Brooke Anderson and Teagan Nelson each provided quality minutes and did a great job giving people a quick blow.  

 

The Lady Knights will get ready for a home playoff game on Thursday night in Barrett.  WCA received the number two seed in the South half of Section 6A. They will play the winner of the game between Battle Lake and Hancock which will be played on Monday night in Hancock.
