The Parkers Prairie Panthers overcame a five point halftime deficit (22-17) against the Underwood Rockets on Friday night and went on to post a 55-49 Little Eight Conference girls basketball victory in Underwood.

“I thought we stuck to the game plan pretty much the whole half and held a five point lead,” said Underwood Head Coach Brian Hovland.  “Early in the second half we did not do as good of a job defensively and they hit four consecutive 3-point attempts.  We trailed the entire half after that.”

Kayla Rocholl had 12 points to lead the Rockets.  Ceri Meech added 10 points and 4 steals and Morgan Evavold finished with 9 points and 12 rebounds.  Josey Bugbee and Brooke Hovland added 9 and 7 points, respectively.

“I’m proud of our girls,” concluded Coach Hovland.  “We finished the regular season with a 19-5 record, have pulled out a lot of close games so far this year, we just came up a little short on this one.  There are a lot of competitive teams in the section and I look forward to some very good games coming up.”

Underwood is the number three seed in Section 6A South and will host sixth-seeded Wheaton/Herman-Norcross on Thursday night at 7:00pm in a first round playoff game.
