After holding a 29-24 halftime lead, the West Central Area Knights outscored the Brandon-Evansville Chargers 34-23 in the second half to pull away with a 63-47 victory.

Knight Coach Kraig Hunter said, "Neither team shot the ball real well, which is due to both teams playing good defense.  The Chargers are a scrappy team and I thought our guys did a good job of not letting them get many open looks.  Defensively we rotated pretty well and did a good job of contesting shots."

"We had a couple of nice spurts in the second half.  We were having trouble securing rebounds until Tate Christenson got a couple of rebounds and a steal and pushed the ball up to get assists on a couple of  fast breaks.  Our second spurt came with Jacob Bright hitting three big shots in a row to put us up double digits.  Grant Beuckens got some key steals down the stretch to secure the win."

"Our two inside guys were just solid all around tonight.  Gage Staples finished well and Teigen Moritz is a steady rock every game doing a little bit of everything."

Staples led the Knights with 17 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals; Bright had 15 points, 4 rebounds, and 1 assist; Moritz had 12 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, and took a charge; Jack VanKempen nearly had a double double with 11 points and 9 rebounds along with 2 steals and 2 assists.  Hunter commented that, "Jack had several big rebounds in the second half to help us get stops on the defensive end."

Beuckens had a good floor game leading the team in steals with 5 and in assists with 4 along with 2 points and 3 rebounds; Christenson had 2 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal; Blake Koloski had 2 points, 2 assists and 2 steals. "Blake is the one that got us going in the first half with his energy", said Hunter.  Rounding out the scoring was Gavin Paulson with 2 points, 1 rebound and 1 steal.   Hunter said, "Gavin is our hardest worker and does a lot of little things for us.  He guarded multiple positions and always brings energy to the floor."

Scoring for the Chargers were Eli Anderson with 15, Keagan Schiele with 12, Marshall Reidel with 7, Tanner Bitzan with 6, Sam Fuller with 4, and Titus Fuller with 3.

WCA (13-7) will play at Hancock on Saturday at 3:30pm.  Brandon-Evansville (13-11) will host Parkers Prairie on Friday night.
