Chargers Top Wheaton Behind Bitzan’s Double-Double

The Brandon-Evansville boys' basketball team travelled to Wheaton on Tuesday night for a makeup game and recorded a 71-46 win over the Warriors. 

“We played a slow and sluggish first half, but came out with more energy in the second half,” reported B-E Head Coach Trent Hintermeister.  “As the season is getting closer to playoffs we are happy with the improvements we are seeing from the guys.”

 

The Chargers were led by 21 points, 12 rebounds and 4 steals from Tanner Bitzan, who made 10-of-17 field goal attempts.  Eli Anderson added 12 points and Marshall Riedel had 10 points and 5 assists.  Titus Fuller finished with 9 rebounds and 3 assists to go along with 6 points and Keagan Schiele had 8 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 seals.  Brandon-Evansville shot 46% (26-56) from the field and made 15-of-20 (75%) free throws in the game.

 

The Chargers (13-10) will travel to Barret to face West Central Area on Thursday and will host Parkers Prairie on Friday night in Evansville.

 

Pelican Rapids shot 52.5% from the field and made 85% of their free throw attempts.  They were led by Kaylie Isaman (14 points, 4 assists) and Greta Tollefson (13 points, 6 rebounds).  Adriana Torres had a team high 7 rebounds and 3 steals.  Maddie Guler (8 points, 4 assists, 2 steals) and Sarah Thompson (8 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals) also contributed for the lady Vikings.

 

Morgan Evavold and Kayla Rocholl led Underwood with 10 and 9 points, respectively.  The Rockets shot just 34.8% from the field.

 

Pelican Rapids will close out their regular season and Heart O’ Lakes Conference season with a game at Perham on Friday.  The Vikings will host a first round Section 6A playoff game on Thursday night at 7:00pm against a yet to be determined opponent.
