Mahnomen-Waubun guard Tanner Pazdernik hit a three pointer with 1.5 seconds remaining in the game to lift the Thunderbirds to a 66-63 victory over the visiting Pelican Rapids Vikings on Tuesday night. Pazdernik led his team with 20 points in the win while the Vikings were led by Hayden Christenson’s 18 points.

“This was a disappointing loss for us tonight as we had a fourteen point lead midway through the second half that we were unable to hold on to down the stretch,” head coach John Gullingsrud stayed. “We didn’t play with the poise and execution needed as the Thunderbirds made the big plays to pull out the victory.”

The loss dropped Pelican Rapids to 9-14 on the season while Mahnomen-Waubun improves to 14-6.  The Vikings will host Hawley on Friday night.
