Lady Knights Put Up 83 Points to Beat NCE/UH

Friday night the West Central Area Knights played the Norman County East/Ulen-Hitterdal Eagles in a section matchup. The game started out with the Eagles going on a 13-2 run. The Knights would respond with a 18-2 run of their own and led 20-15. Then slowly the Knights would grow a lead of 42-30 to end the first half. The Second half the Knights came out pedal to the medal and would make it a 20 point margin. The Knights didn’t let up until the final buzzer rang with the final score of 83-54.

The Knights were led by Ella Van Kempen with her 21 points, 5 rebounds, 5 steals, 4 blocks and 3 assists. Hailey Bennett had 13 points, 6 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 assists. Lexi Bright scored 12 points, with 3 assists, 2 steals, a block and a rebound. Kennedy Ulrich had 9 points, 2 rebounds and a steal. Kaitlyn Hansenscored 9 points and had an assist. Brynn Fernholz put in 8 points, grabbed 6 steals, 4 rebounds, had 3 assists and a block. Kaylyn Ulrich scored 5 points and grabbed a rebound. Elizabeth Rustan had 4 points, 3 steals and 3 rebounds. Halle Foslienhad 2 points. Brooke Anderson assisted on 3 buckets and grabbed 3 rebounds. Kaitlyn Sanstead had 2 rebounds and an assist. Teagan Nelson had 2 rebounds on the night. Morgan Woodle had a rebound, an assist and 2 steals.

“This was a great game for us in many respects. First, we didn’t come out ready like we needed to do, but second we did find a way to get back on track continue to build a lead,” said Coach Eric Schoenbauer. “We need to understand teams are coming to win and records do not indicate the mentality or effort a team will bring into each game.”
