Knights Score 95 Points in Win Over Wheaton

After a tough overtime loss on Friday night, the West Central Area Knights came back with a vengeance scoring 95 points in a 95-39 win over the Wheaton Warriors.  The Knights set two school records in the game. They broke the record for the best 3-point % in one game hitting 13-18 threes for 72% and overall FG % in one game as they hit 38-55 shots for 69%.

Knight Coach Kraig Hunter said, "One of our focuses tonight was making the extra pass, being unselfish.  We had 24 assists out of our 38 baskets. It was beautiful to watch the great unselfish, team passing."

Eleven of the twelve Knights players got into the scoring column.  Grant Beuckens had 21 points, 6 assists, 4 steals, and 2 rebounds; Jack VanKempen had 15 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 assists; Brady Reeve had 13 points and 2 rebounds; Jacob Bright had 13 points, 4 assists, and 2 rebounds; Teigen Moritz had 12 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists; Gage Staples had 8 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals; Gavin Paulson had 4 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals; Tate Christenson had 3 points, 4 assists, and 1 rebound; Ryder Staples had 2 points, Braedon Blondeau 2 points, and Xander Bontjes 2 points.  Kyle Schill added an assist.

Wheaton hit 14-39 shots for 36% and 3-13 threes. From the free throw line the Warriors were 8-12 and the Knights 6-10.  The Knights won the rebounding battle 28-20 and only turned the ball over six times to 15 for Wheaton.

The Knights move to 12-6 on the year and will travel to Ortonville on Tuesday night for a big Pheasant Conference game.
