Breckenridge defeated Pelican Rapids in Heart O’ Lakes boys basketball by a score of 93-57 on Friday night.

Leading scorers for the Cowboys were Noah Christensen with 28, Jonah Christensen with 20, Cooper Yaggie with 13, Caden McGough with 10, and Jacob Marsh with 10. Leading rebounders were Noah Christensen with 13 and Jonah Christensen with 6. Noah Christensen added 8 assists, Jacob Marsh had 5 assists, and Max Johnson had 4 assists.

"We played a great game of unselfish basketball,” said Breckenridge Assistant Coach Derek Grahn. “In total, we had 24 assists which really set the tone of the game. We had a lot of guys playing extremely unselfishly but were always ready to put the ball in the hoop. We travel to Frazee to take on the Hornets next Tuesday."

Pelican Rapids was led by Hayden Christenson and Logan Fahje with 12 points apiece, and Jayden Rutherford with 11 points.

“We weren’t up to the task tonight as the Cowboys played at a level of pace and intensity that we couldn’t match tonight,” said Pelican Rapids Head Coach John Gullingsrud. “We once again struggled with their defensive pressure and turned the ball over too many times to stay competitive. We had a nice start to the second half to cut their seventeen point halftime lead to seven, but they went on a 26-0 run to completely put the game away.”

Pelican Rapids (9-13) will play Mahnomen/Waubun in Mahnomen on Tuesday night.
