Otter Boys End Regular Season with 8-1 Loss to Sartell

Sartell-St. Stephen put 28 shots on the Fergus Falls net on Tuesday night and scored eight times on the way to an 8-1 victory over the Otters in the regular season finale for both teams. 

Jack Henneman got the Sabres started with an assist from Will Schiffler at 2:48 of the opening period. 

Two goals in the first 45 seconds of the second period gave the Sabres a 3-0 lead. Hennemann scored from Austin Adelman nine seconds into the period and Adelman then assisted on a goal by Ryan Zulkosky at the 45 second mark. Schiffler’s goal from Maddux Hagy and Adelman at 5:58 made it 4-0, Sartell, and Hagy scored from Adelman and Hennemann at 10:45 to give the Sabres a 5-0 lead. A power play goal by Adelman, assisted by Connor Kalthoff put the score at 6-0 after two periods of play. 

The lone goal for the Otters was an unassisted tally by senior Isaac Ahlgren at 2:44 of the third period. Hennemann finished his hat trick, assisted by Hagy at 5:46 and Kalthoff concluded the scoring at 13:55 with Hennemann earning an assist on the goal. 

Fergus Falls managed just 9 shots on goal in the game. 

The Section 6A seeding meeting will be held on Wednesday night to determine first round matchups for the playin round of the tournament on Saturday and the quarterfinal round next Tuesday, February 19.
