The Hancock Owls held a slight 26-20 halftime lead on Monday night against Wheaton/Herman-Norcross but poured in 43 second half points while holding the Warriors to 24, leading to a 69-44 Hancock win in Wheaton.

Bennett Nienhaus led Hancock with 21 points. Preston Rohloff scored 10, Peyton Rohloff and Cole Reese contributed 9 points each and Tanner Pahl added 8 points. The Owls shot 44% from the field and made 39% of their 3-point attempts. They also held a 47-34 edge on the boards.

Leaders for the Warriors were Matt Thielen (19 points, 4 assists, 2 steals), Hunter Johnson (7 points), Michael Franzese (7 points, 9 rebounds), Nick Lupkes (5 points, 4 rebounds) and Zach Stueve (4 rebounds, 2 steals, 2 assists).

“The score doesn’t show it, but the boys played a good game,” said Wheaton/Herman-Norcross Head Coach Jordon Roos. “We were able to get a lot of quality shots, but they simply wouldn’t fall. Our defense was very tough and some of the best we have played all year against a very good team.”
