Otters Win Big in Wadena

Michael DeBrito recorded a hat trick and added an assist on Friday night to lead the Fergus Falls boys hockey team to a 9-2 win in Wadena.  The Otters put 38 shots on goal, while the Wolverines had 21 shots on the Fergus Falls net.

 

Isaac Young got the Otters on the board just 3:25 into the game with assists from Colton Partain and Debrito.  Ian Richards added an unassisted goal at 5:40 to give the Otters a 2-0 lead.  Debrito scored from Richards and Isaac Young at 15:42 and then added an unassisted goal sixteen seconds later as Fergus Falls built a 4-0 lead after one period.

Chase Jensen made it a 5-0 game at 3:17 of the second period with Declan Youngand Aaron Shelstad earning assists on the goal.  Matthew Niblock converted a pass from behin the net by Logan Schake at 5:53 giving the Otters a 6-0 advantage.  Wadena-Deer Creek scored a rebound goal when Justin Dykhoff got the puck past Scott VanVoorhis at 8:44.  Logan Robinson assisted on the goal.  Schake scored from Partain to put the score at 7-1 after the second period.

Wyatt Murray tallied an unassisted goal at 1:55 of the third period to cut the lead to 7-2, however, Fergus Falls scored a pair of shorthanded goals while the Wolverines were enjoying a five minute power play.  Debrito and Declan Young scored the goals that put the final score at 9-2.

Fergus Falls will finish their regular season schedule at Sartell on Tuesday night.
