The Underwood girls basketball team edged Brandon-Evansville 49-48 on Tuesday night in Brandon, recording their seventh straight win and their fourteenth win in the last fifteen games.

“We got very lucky tonight,” stated Underwood Head coach Brian Hovland. “With that being said we gutted out another win. Kayla Rocholl (20 points, 8 rebounds, 6 steals) had a nice game and hit a huge 3 pointer to put us ahead by 1 with about 10 seconds left after B-E missed the front end of a 1 and 1. Brandon Evansville got a shot off but we were able to get the rebound and hold the ball. We need to do some things better and one of them is free throws. We went 9-of-20 from the charity stripe and in close games like this each of those free throws importance becomes compounded.”

Morgan Evavold added 9 points and 10 rebounds for the Rockets.

Mikenna Pattrin led three Chargers in double figures with 15 points. Madison Quinn and Sara Jacobson each scored 11 points.

“This was a great game by both teams,” said Brandon-Evansville Head Coach Sam Lange. “We battled back and forth all night and I am very proud of the way we played. They made a big shot at the end and we came up just short tonight.”

The Chargers (14-6) will host Ashby on Thursday night and then will travel to Underwood for a rematch with the Rockets on Monday night.

The Rockets (16-2) will host Parkers Prairie on Thursday before hosting the Chargers next Monday.
