It was an exciting night at the Ashby School gym on Monday, January 28.  The Lady Arrows defeated the New York Mills Eagles 58-57 in Overtime in non-conference action. Courtney Koefod reached 1,000 career points in the game for the Arrows.

The Arrows started fast and jumped to an eight point lead led by the scoring and rebounding of Kalista Aamot. However, foul trouble led to Aamot’s premature exit from the game which sparked the Eagles to take a four point advantage into the intermission.  With Aamot back in the game to start the second half, the Lady Arrows regained a small 4 point lead before foul trouble again plagued Aamot as she eventually fouled out of the game late in the second half. The Eagles were able to capitalize on the Arrows misfortune by tying the score at the end of regulation at 46 apiece.

In the overtime session, it became the Courtney Koefod Show.  Courtney scored eight points in overtime including a cool handed 4 for 4 from the free throw line to lead the Arrows to a 58-57 nerve-wracking, fingernail biting victory. In the overtime, Josey Ness also had a big time play banking in a runner and completing the ‘and one’ after being fouled. With her first basket in overtime, Koefod surpassed the 1,000 point scoring mark for her career. She finished the game with 1,007 career tallies. Koefod led all scorers in the game with 21 points. Ness also had a strong offensive night with 16 points. Celi Nelson led the Arrows in rebounding with 13; 12 of them coming on the defensive end of the court. Kalista Aamot added another double-double to her resume’ collecting 11 rebounds and 10 points.

The Arrows are now 6-11 on the year.
