Pee Wee A Team Falls to River Lakes by One Goal

Fergus Falls Pee Wee A team faced River Lakes in an exciting game, on January 26, 2019, losing 5-4.

River Lakes came out strong and ready to play, banking 2 goals in the first and starting the second period with another. Down by 3 the Pemberton Pee Wees answered with 2 back to back goals. First goal was blasted in at 6:17 by Bradyn Nelson, with assists from Leighton Buckmeier and Sam Dirkman. Second goal at 5:58 came on a short side bullet by Luke Norgard with assists from Shane Zierden and Michael Schmidt. Second period ended with River Lakes up by 1.

The Otters came out ready to play in the third with Gavin Goepferd sniping a goal at 6:19 with a helper from Sam Dirkman. Coach Ryan Polzin and Coach Greg Buckmeier gambled and pulled the Otter goalie at the end of the third. The gamble paid off and the otters used this advantage to score another from Goepferd with assists from Griffin Babolian and Leighton Buckmeier. The final minute of play came with some scoring chances for the otters but the opposing netminder held strong.

It proved to be a rough game at times with River Lakes recording 7 penalties and Fergus Falls totaling the same with 7.

Ryan Nelson turned away 24 of 29 tough shots in the loss.
