The Brandon-Evansville girls basketball team suffered a 40-27 home court loss to Melrose on Friday night and then fell in a tight battle with Hawley on Saturday at Concordia, 48-36.

“Melrose played great defense and we had trouble scoring all night against them,” said B-E Head Coach Sam Lange.

Mikenna Pattrin led the Chargers with 13 points and Brittany Korkowski added 7.

Mikiya Luetmer scored a team high 13 for Melrose.

On Saturday, Hawley got 20 points from junior Paige Thompson, their NDSU commit, and Kylie Crabtree added 10. Rianna Lilleby chipped in with 8.

Pattrin once again led the Chargers with 12 points and Sara Jacobson added 7.

“I am really proud of the way we played this night,” said Coach Lange. “We bounced back after two tough losses in our last two games and played well against a very good team. We were able to get the ball inside in the second half and score, but came up short in the end. Hawley went 8-for-8 from the free throw line, which thwarted our chance to finish a comeback.”

Brandon-Evansville is now 12-5 on the season. Their game at Underwood Tuesday night has been postponed and will be made up on Monday, February 11 at 7:00pm. They are scheduled to play at Battle Lake on Thursday night.
