Spartan Men Hit 52% From 3-Point Range in Win Over Rochester

M State hit 12-of-23 (52%) three-point field goal attempts and made 25-of-34 free throws (73.5%) on Saturday afternoon as the Spartans handed Rochester an 85-62 loss in Fergus Falls. 

Martin LaFond recorded a double-double with 22 points and 11 assists to lead M State. Samuel Priem had 15 points, Kyler Newman contributed 14 points off the bench, and TJ Martin finished with 13 points. Austin Miller led the team with 4 assists. 

M State hit nine 3’s in the first half to build a 49-30 lead. The Spartans improved to 10-9 overall and 3-3 in the MCAC Southern Division. 

Leaders for Rochester were Naa’Il Mahdi (14 points), Karmoga Lero (7 points), Mickey Jah (7 points) and Eddie Oyet (7 points). The Yellowjackets made 32% (20-62) of their field goal attempts. 

M State will travel to Wisconsin on Wednesday to face Western Tech.
