Ashby senior Scott Johnson set the all-time school scoring record with 1,407 points as he poured in 30 points on Friday night in the Arrows 57-48 victory over Battle Lake. The record was previously held by Blake Ohren who ended his career with 1,405 points.

Christian Norby added 13 points for Ashby. Jaden Norby grabbed 15 boards and Dakota Ecker dished out 5 assists.

“We had a good working margin at the half, but missed shots and good defense by the Battlers made it a two possession game down the stretch,” reported Ashby Head Coach John Holsten. “We needed every one of Scott’s free throws to give us a little breathing room late in the game. Battle Lake is a much improved club from our first game in early December.”

Battle Lake was led by Riley Leabo with 17 points.

“We fought back within four after being down 13 at the half,” said Head Coach CJ Peeters of the Battlers. “Our guys played so hard and really executed in the second half. We couldn’t quite make our shots down the stretch and Ashby did a nice job of finishing at the free throw line. It was a fun game and was really enjoyable to be a part of and watch both teams compete so hard.”

Battle Lake (5-9) will host Underwood on Tuesday.

Ashby (10-3) earned their fifth straight win and remains in a first place tie with Parkers Prairie in the Little Eight Conference standings at 6-1. The Arrows will host Hillcrest on Tuesday night.
