Otter Boys Fall at River Lakes

The Fergus Falls boys hockey team had more shots than River Lakes, 31 to 25, but River Lakes posted a 4-3 victory over the Otters in Richmond on Thursday night.

 

River Lakes scored three first period goals and led 3-1 after one. Griffin Duininckgot them on the board with an unassisted tally at 3:56, but the Otters answered at 6:53 when Ian Richards scored from Isaac Young and Aaron ShelstadLogan Stellmach scored the final two goals of the period at 14:34 and 16:48 with Sam Howard earning assists on both goals. Duininck was also awarded an assist on Stellmach’s first goal.

Ethan Howard increased the River Lakes lead to 4-1 with assists from Duininck and Sam Howard at 7:06 of the second period.

Fergus Falls rallied for a pair of third period goals but their comeback attempt came up one goal short. Colton Partain scored a power play goal from Chase Jensenand Mason Hoffman at 7:03 and Isaac Young found the back of the net at 14:40, assisted by Kaden Peterson.

Scott VanVoorhis stopped 21 River Lakes shots on goal.

The Otters (6-11-2) will host Willmar on Friday night.
