Otter Nordic competed in the Little Falls Invitational on Tuesday 1/23 at Camp Ripley. This was the final regular season race for the team and even though powdery dry snow resulted in slow race conditions the team was eager to race after the cancellation of the Bemidji Invitational due to extreme cold.  Varsity skiers competed in a 10K pursuit race, JV raced a 5K Skate race and Jr. High skied a 3K Skate race.

In races full of tough competition the Otters skied strong. Tucker Henkes earned a top 20 finish in the varsity pursuit race and David Ronnevik took home an award for his 6th place finish in the JV race. Three freshman skied their first varsity pursuit races: Anders Anthonisen-Brown, Luke Schroeder, and Silje Ronnevik.

Silje Ronnevik is competing in her third season with the team and is an eager and ambitious athlete. Silje positively accepts challenges and values the commitment and work of skiing in a varsity position. She first skied varsity for the team last year as an eighth grader and is even stronger this season making her a staple to our varsity squad going into our conference and section races.

Emilie Carlson is also a freshman and is competing with the team for her first season. Emilie is a great addition to the team as she is no stranger to hard work and fierce competition as a 2018 state swim meet competitor . Emilie has caught on quickly to both skate and classic formats and has the endurance to tough through races in all conditions. She is one to watch this season!

The Conference Ski Meet scheduled to be held at Spidahl Ski Gaard on Tuesday, January 24th will be rescheduled due to extreme cold. Rescheduled date is to be determined.
