Flyers Score 3 Power Play Goals in 6-3 Win Over Otters

The Little Falls Flyers scored three power play goals on Saturday night and put 31 shots on goal in a 6-3 victory over Section 6A opponent Fergus Falls.

Josh Jennings got things started for the Flyers with a goal at 7:14 of the first period, assisted by Nicholas Stevens.

Matt Filippi scored an unassisted goal at 2:06 of the second period to give the Flyers a 2-0 lead and the home team made it 4-0 with power play goals from Jennings at 5:42 and Devon Young at 9:16. Filippi assisted on the first power play goal and Jennings on the second. Fergus Falls got on the board at 10:13 when Chase Jensen tallied a power play goal from Mason HoffmanAaron Shelstad’seven strength goal at 14:13 brought the Otters to within 4-2. Declan Young assisted on the goal.

The final Little Falls power play goal of the game gave the Flyers a 5-2 lead. Devon Young scored from Stevens at 5:27 of the third period. Isaac Young netted a power play goal for Fergus Falls with assists going to Kaden Peterson and Hoffman at 8:59. Stevens finished the scoring from Gabe Hirsch at 11:57.

Dan Couture stopped 19 Fergus Falls shots on goal and Scott Van Voorhis had 25 saves in the Otter net.

The Otters (6-10-2) will travel to Richmond to face River Lakes on Thursday night and will host Willmar on Friday night at the Community Ice Arena in Fergus Falls
