Hartwell and Portales Win Titles at Terry Teiken Invite

The Fergus Falls wrestling team had ten wrestlers compete at the 42nd Annual Terry Teiken Invitational on Friday in Lake Park. Seven of the ten placed for the Otters.

The Otters had two champions, Kaden Hartwell (152) and Dustin Portales (285). Hartwell pinned Cade Sogge of D-G-F by fall in the quarterfinals, beat Tyler Maruska of Fosston by fall in the semifinals and then pinned Hunter Magnussonof United Clay Becker in the championship match. Portales started his day with a bye, then pinned Bryce Anderson of D-G-F in just 33 seconds in the semifinals. He recorded a pin of Axel Munter from Fosston in the finals.

Eli Sorum (182) took third place with a fall at 2:03 of the third place match over Bailey Johnson of United Clay Becker.

Tyson Back (195) came in fourth, Justin Boyd (126) was fifth, and two wrestlers, Da’mon Britten (106) and Cole Fronning (160) ended up in sixth place.

Pequot Lakes won the team title with a score of 184 and Fosston was second with a score of 163. They were followed by United Clay Becker (142.5), D-G-F (128.5), Breckenridge (114), Pelican Rapids (98), Osakis (81.5), Fergus Falls (81), Wadena-Deer Creek (67.5) and Mahnomen-Waubun (54).
