Lady Knights Connect on 14 3's in 87-59 Win Over Ashby

The West Central Area Lady Knights left the Lady Arrows in the dark Tuesday by connecting on 11 three point first half shots and a total of 14 for the game. The Knights scored the first points of the game and never looked back on their way to scoring 52 points in the first half compared to only 28 for the Arrows. The Knights ended up with an 87-59 victory on their home floor. 

 

Offensively, the Arrows had a good night with four players scoring in double figures led by the surging Kalista Aamot with 20, Josey Ness 12, Courtney Koefod 11, and Aanika Anderson 10. 

“Defensively, it is back to the drawing board for the Lady Arrows as they gave up a season high 87 points; albeit to a very strong WCA Knights team,” said Ashby Head coach Alan Niemann

The Lady Knights were led by Ella Van Kempen with 19 points, 10 rebounds, 3 steals, 5 blocks and 3 assists. Hailey Bennett poured in 17 points with 3 assists and 3 rebounds, Lexi Bright scored 14 points, had 6 assists, 4 steals and 3 rebounds, and Brynn Fernholz had 12 points, 3 steals and an assist. Morgan Woodle put in 6 points to go along with her 6 rebounds, 4 steals, 3 assists and 2 blocks, Kaitlyn Hansen dropped in 6 points, grabbed 2 rebounds, 4 assists and a steal, Kennedy Ulrich scored 5 points with 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 3 steals, Kaitlyn Sansteadscored 3 points, had 5 assists, a steal and a rebound, Teagan Nelson had 3 points, a rebound and a steal, and Elizabeth Rustan had 2 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, a steal and a block. 

“The girls played hard tonight and did a nice job rallying together to grow a lead. We can still tighten up some loose ends to ensure we put ourselves in the best positions continually in games,” said Head Coach Eric Schoenbauer.

Ashby will play at Battle Lake on Friday night, while WCA entertains Menahga next Tuesday in Barrett.
