Declan Young Leads Otter Boys with Hat Trick

Declan Young scored three goals to key a 7-3 victory over Prairie Center for the Fergus Falls boys hockey team on Tuesday night at the Community Ice Arena in Fergus Falls.

Fergus Falls had 45 shots on goal in the game and Scott Van Voorhis stopped 13 of the 16 shots by Prairie Center.

The visitors notched the first goal of the game just 24 seconds in when Hunter Fletcher scored from Ian Gould.  Young got his first goal of the night with an assist from Aaron Shelstad.  Brady Miller's goal at 14:22 was assisted by Gould and gave Prairie Center a 2-1 lead.  Cole Zierden tied the game with an unassisted goal at 16:31.

In the second period Colton Partain got the go ahead goal 28 seconds in, unassisted.  Young buried his second of the night from Ian Richards and Isaac Ahlgren at the one minute mark and Isaac Young scored from Declan Young at 15:09 as the Otters increased their lead to 5-2 after two periods of play.

A power play goal from Hunter Fletcher at 4:32 of the third period made it a 5-3 game.  Andrew Bick and Miller assisted on the goal.  Declan Young netted an unassisted shorthanded goal at 12:18 and Logan Schake finished the scoring from Isaac Young at 15:39.

The Otters (6-9-2) will travel to Little Falls for a Saturday night contest with the Flyers.
