“The game was tighter than the final score indicates,” said Head Coach Tim Lill of the Otters. “The girls did an incredible job of choking their breakout and causing turnovers. Rausch again capitalized when it was needed most. Defensively, we were solid from the pipes out to the red line.”
Rausch scored a power play goal at 15:47 of the first period with assists from Jade Zierden and Hallie Sheridan.
Gabbie Rud scored a power play goal from Jordann Swingle. The Otters responded with a second power play goal from Rausch, assisted by Ellie Andersenand Sheridan at 14:20. Andersen’s goal at 16:03 from Rausch and Zierden gave the Otters a 3-1 lead. Rausch netted an unassisted goal at 14:41 of the third period to conclude the scoring.
Jadyn McKeever stopped 18 of the 19 shots she faced and the Otters put 28 shots on goal.
The win was the fifth in a row for the Otters and improved their season record to 16-5. They will host Brainerd/Little Falls in their next game on Tuesday, January 22.
