The Underwood girls basketball team fell behind 26-15 against Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley on Monday night, however, the Rockets were able to overcome a 32-26 halftime deficit to defeat the Wolverines by the score of 61-50 in Underwood.

“This was a tale of two halves,” summarized Head Coach Brian Hovland of the Rockets. “In the first half we did not do a good job of running our offense and or taking good shots. We also let them get too many easy buckets on loose balls. At one point we trailed 26-15. The second half started the total opposite as the first. Three straight possessions we ran through our progressions on the offensive side of the ball and got great looks and tied the game up. In the second half the girls flipped a switch. They did what we needed to do to get a very important section win.”

Kayla Rocholl led the Rockets with 18 points and 5 steals. Ceri Meechcontributed 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 steals; Morgan Evavold added 10 points, 8 rebounds and 6 steals; Josey Bugbee wound up with 7 points; Brooke Hovlandchipped in with 6 points, 5 rebounds and 4 steals, and Ally Johnson finished with 5 points.

Underwood (11-2) is off until Tuesday, January 22 when they will host Battle Lake in a Little Eight Conference contest.
