The Hillcrest girls basketball team came out on top in a tight battle with Rothsay on Friday night in Fergus Falls. The Comets defeated the Tigers by the score of 60-58.

“Overall, it was a great team victory,” commented Hillcrest Head Coach Hannah Clark. “It was fun to see everyone get involved. Olivia Foss (28 points, 9 rebounds, 5 steals) played her best game of the year, leading us tonight to a victory. We were patient on offense which created good, open looks. Audra Ewan (10 points) and Mackenzie Foss (15 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists) shot the ball well, which allowed us to create some space in the paint. Rothsay made a late run in the second half, but our girls stayed focused and never gave up.”

Jayna Gronewold scored 23 points and Jenna Fabre contributed 19 points to lead Rothsay.

Hillcrest (2-7) will play at Breckenridge on Tuesday, while Rothsay (2-11) will play Lake Park-Audubon in Lake Park at six o’clock Saturday night.
