On December 29, 2018, the Detroit Lakes Lakers traveled to Fergus Falls to face the Otters in their second district game matchup of the season.

It was clear that the Lakers had something to prove putting up a fight with the drop of the puck. Defenseman, Riley McGovern would have something to say about that, making several key plays in the 1st period to keep the Lakers off the board. Brayden Nelson gave the Otters their first point of the game, putting the puck in the back of the net on a second attempt with assistance from Gavin Geopferd and Davis Shol. A minute later, Nelson recorded a second goal, with an impressive bar down shot, once again assisted by Goepferd and Jack Welde. The period would end with the Otters up 2-O, Ryan Nelson recorded 5 saves.

In the second period, Griffin Babolian increased the Otters lead on a fast break. This unassisted, shorthanded goal made the score 3-0. The final goal of the game came off a powerplay in the third with hustler Shane Zierden going bar down (B. Nelson and Goepferd).

On Sunday, December 30 the Pemberton Law Pee Wee A team traveled to Moorhead to face their rivals the Spuds. This was certainly a fast paced the game from the start. The Otters traded shots with the Spuds throughout the period, but the Spuds were able to take a 3 goal lead. Finally, the Otters showed some signs of life with an unassisted goal from Zierden at the 2:40 mark. With 56 seconds remaining in the first period, the Otters attempted to close the gap with a well needed goal going into the back of the net. However, this goal was waved off and the period ended 3-1.

The Spuds would go on to score the next 3 goals, two in the 2nd period and one to start the third, increasing their lead to 6-1. Babolian would give the Otters their second and final goal of the game on a fast break in the third. The Spuds scored one more goal. The final of the game was 7-2.
