The Fergus Falls boys swimming and diving team traveled to St. Cloud to face the Tech Tigers on Thursday night. The Otters won the varsity dual 98-87.

“Very nice win by the boys tonight,” commented Head Coach Randy Hansen of the Otters.  “Tech is a similar sized team so we matched up really well with them.  We trained really hard all Christmas break and I could tell we had not competed in over two weeks.”

The Otters started the night with a first place from their 200 medley relay team (1:45.52) of Titus Seland, Tristan Trosvig, Tyler Hansen and Will Pawlowski.

In the 200 freestyle, Sawyer Votava (2:01.39) was second, Christian Reed (2:11.51) third and Matt Pajari (2:46.66) fifth.

Seland was runner-up (2:21.30) in the 200 IM. Steven Wohlenhaus (2:30.40) was fourth and Sean Edman (2:36.15) finished fifth.

Trosvig was first (23.85), Pawlowski fourth (25.28) and Ryan Aanerud fifth (28.05) in the 50 freestyle.

On the diving board Caleb Neubauer was the champion with a score of 231.40 and Evan Erlandson was second with a 201.10.

Hansen won the 100 butterfly with a time of 59.52 seconds and Andrew Danielson was fourth (1:12.67).

Pawlowski (54.88), Edman (56.59) and Isaac Pederson (58.43) finished 3-4-5 in the 100 freestyle, and in the 500 freestyle Votava was second (5:28.71) and Reed third (6:04.86).

The 200 freestyle relay team (1:41.42) of Trosvig, Edman, Votava and Wohlenhaus took second place, while the team of Pederson, Reed, Aanerud and Danielson claimed third (1:48.16).

In the 100 backstroke, Titus Seland was second (1:01.13), Hansen was third (1:04.88) and Alec Richards (1:17.38) claimed fifth place.

Trosvig was the champion (1:10.73) in the 100 breaststroke, while Wohlenhaus (1:18.48) and Aanerud (1:24.68) were third and fourth, respectively.

The 400 freestyle relay team of Seland, Edman, Pawlowski and Hansen took first place (3:39.93).

“Our medley relay swam the fastest time they have all year, which was awesome to see.  I think that race set the tone of the night for us,” said Coach Hansen.  “Andrew Danielson had a great night, swimming three great relay legs and dropping almost two seconds in his 100 fly.  Caleb Neubauer put together his most solid performance of the season in diving and Christian Reed dropped 2.5 seconds in the 200 free, swimming a 2:11, which is great for an 8th grader.  Tyler Hansen swam a monster last leg in the 400 free relay, coming from behind to win the race in his best split of the season.”

The Otters have a Central Lakes Conference dual at Sauk Rapids on Tuesday.
