Jadyn McKeever came up with 43 saves in the Fergus Falls goal, but the Otter girls managed only 13 shots on goal in their 3-0 loss to Forest Lake in the championship game of the Mid-Winter Border Battle at Fogerty Arena in Minneapolis.

“That team was better than us at everything,” acknowledged Fergus Falls Head Coach Tim Lill. “Our girls played hard and battled all three periods and never gave up. We learned what exceptional teams do, now we take it to practice. McKeever was outstanding for us!”

Following a scoreless first period, Forest Lake notched a pair of second period goals. Rachel Golnitz scored from Bailey O’Donovan and Brooke Remington at 10:46. Sydney Schmidt scored a power play goal from Lillian Walesheck and Sydney Rydel at 14:55 giving Forest Lake a 2-0 lead.

Remington added an unassisted shorthanded goal at 4:20 of the third period.

Fergus Falls (11-5) will host Willmar in a Central Lakes Conference contest on Thursday. The loss ended a three game winning streak for the Otters.

Forest Lake improved to 14-1 on the season.
