Fergus Falls jumped out to a 4-1 first period lead with Kaden Peterson scoring an unassisted goal just fourteen seconds into the game. Ian Richards scored goals at 1:28 and 7:54 to give the Otters an early 3-0 lead. Mike DeBrito assisted on both goals by Richards and Isaac Ahlgren had a second assist on his second goal. After Dalton Bossert converted a power play opportunity from Jackson Prochnow to get West Fargo on the board at 10:52, Declan Young scored a shorthanded goal for Fergus Falls at 15:07, assisted by Colton Partain and Mason Hoffman.
DeBrito scored from Isaac Young and Richards at 2:15 of the second period, giving Fergus Falls a 5-1 lead, however, Tristan Blazer’s unassisted shorthanded goal cut the lead to 5-2. Isaac Young pushed the lead back to four goals when he converted a pass from DeBrito at 8:13. Richards scored a power play goal from Isaac Young and DeBrito at 10:01 and Isaac Young added another power play goal from DeBrito and Peterson at 10:33 as the Otters increased their lead to 8-2.
West Fargo trimmed the Fergus Falls lead to 8-3 with a goal by Brayden Jacobsonjust 54 seconds into the third period. Prochnow assisted on the goal. Cole Zierdenscored for Fergus Falls at 7:52, assisted by Noah Tarczon. The Packers concluded the scoring at 12:37 when Blazer scored from Caleb Roehrich and Carson Harrington.
DeBrito (1 goal, 5 assists), Richards (3 goals, 1 assist) and Isaac Young (2 goals, 2 assists) all had big offensive nights for the Otters as they improved their season record to 4-5-1. Fergus Falls will host Detroit Lakes at 7:00pm Saturday at the Community Ice Arena.
