Hawley Boys Suffer First Loss as Otters Win at Home

The Hawley Nuggets suffered their first loss of the season when they dropped a 65-64 decision to the Fergus Falls boys basketball team on Friday night in the Otters Holiday Classic Tournament.  The game featured ten ties and seven lead changes with neither team leading by more than six points in the contest.  The win snapped a three game Fergus Falls losing streak and puts the Otters at 4-4 on the season.

Matthew Johnson returned to the lineup after missing three games with an ankle injury and scored a game high 23 points, making three 3-pointers.  Dominic Aguilar finished with 15 points and Nic Pearson added a dozen.  Ethan Olsonmade a pair of free throws with under a minute to play that gave the Otters a one point lead and they were able to hold on for the victory.

Hawley made eleven 3-point field goals in the game.  They were led by 18 points from Jacob Vetter.  Mason Klevgaard and Jayden Carlisle added 12 points each.

Fergus Falls will play at Perham on Saturday at 12:30pm against the third-ranked Yellowjackets (6-1).
