Four Points by Declan Young Helps Otters Top Red Wing

The Fergus Falls boys hockey team put 35 shots on goal Saturday in their 5-2 win over Red Wing at the Community Ice Arena. 

Red Wing struck first, scoring 1:13 into the game. Derek Gielau tallied an even strength goal with Gavin Lampe and Barrent Blaney assisting. 

Fergus Falls scored three straight second period goals to take a 3-1 lead. Aaron Shelstad cashed in on the power play, from Colton Partain, just thirteen seconds into the period and Declan Young scored from Cole Zierden at 9:06. A goal from Mason Hoffman at 14:20, was setup by Declan Young and gave the Otters a two goal cushion. Red Wing answered just seventeen second later when Gileau lit the lamp for a second time. Cam Blue assisted on the goal and the Otters led 3-2 after two periods. 

Isaac Ahlgren scored from Hayden Shol and Declan Young at 2:30 of the third period and the Otters finished the scoring at 12:52 when Declan Young scored from Shelstad and Zierden. 

Ian Stumbo stopped 23 shots in the Otter net. 

Fergus Falls (3-3-1) will host Alexandria on Tuesday night before going to St. Cloud State University to face St. Cloud Tech/Apollo on Thursday.
